1) How do I sign-up for a ski trip?
You need to fill-out the Google form under the “Welcome” or “Checklist” page on the website. All forms are on the “Checklist” page or you may get these from Ms. Preissing’s classroom, room 238 or in the main office.
2) How much does this trip cost?
Depending one where we are going, the costs will be different. Price information can be found on the permission form and the introduction letter.
3) To whom should my parents write a check?
South Middle School
4) Can I give cash?
Of course, but please place this in an envelope with your name.
5) On the day of the trip, where should we meet?
Ms. Preissing will let you know on the morning announcements and on the Schoology page. For day trips, we will meet outside and go directly on the bus.
6) Can I sit with my friends on the bus?
Yes! Ms. Preissing tries to place you on a bus according to your grade. If you want to change buses, just let her know.
7) Where can I leave my school backpack or school items, so I don’t have to drag them on the trip?
We will have a designated area in the school where we can store our items.
8) Where can I drop off my ski equipment before school on Friday trips?
We will have a designated place in the school. It is usually on the MP stage, but we will let you know.
9) Can my parents pick me up from the ski trip instead of taking the bus home?
That is fine as long as your parents send Ms. Preissing an email, and they must come into the lodge when picking up. It is important to see a chaperone or Ms. Preissing, so they know you are safe.
10) Can I take a lesson?
Yes, Wimot and Alpine offer group lessons
11) What will I eat?
You may bring a sack dinner or money to purchase food at their cafeteria.
12) What if I get hurt?
There is a Ski Safety Patrol that can help you. You should bring a friend with you or have him/her let one of the chaperones know immediately, so we can monitor how you are feeling. We will call your parents in an emergency.
13) If I need help, whom shall I ask?
You may ask any of the employees at the ski resort or find a chaperone.
14) Where do I put my personal belongings after I change into my ski boots?
There are lockers that take cash. Many kids leave their items in the rental room or in the picnic room where we meet at the start. This can be a risk. The chaperones are not responsible for these items if something gets lost. Make sure to have a plan and bring quarters.
15) What time do we meet to leave the resort?
All trips may be different, but the after-school trips will depart at 9:30 pm. Full day trips will leave at 5:00pm. We will give you a time that you should be leaving the mountains.
16) What time should my parents pick me up to go home?
For afternoon trips, 11:00pm is about when we will arrive back at South. For day trips, we should arrive home at about 6:45pm. You will be able to call or text your parents as we get closer.
17) Will we be able to get into the school when we get back?
Yes, for afternoon trips, but you will not be able to go to your lockers. You will be able to get your items from our storage spot.
18) Can parents help chaperone?
Yes. You will indicate this on the Google Form. Then, we will contact him or her if they’re needed.. Chaperones will also be given a free lift ticket.
